HRDC Classic Alfa Challenge, 03-07-22, Lydden

 ‘Historics on the Hill’ has become a well established early-July event at Lydden Hill.  Three categories feature: ‘Jack Sears Trophy,’ for ’58-’66 Touring Cars, ‘Dunlop Allstars,’ for pre-’66 Sports, GT and Touring Cars, and ‘Classic Alfa Challenge,’ for 750-116 Series Alfa Romeos.  Entries for the event run on 3rd July 2022 were:

Overall winner, (the event was run as two races, each of 19 laps), was the Alfetta GTV 2000 of Chris Snowdon:


Very close 2nd  – just half a second behind – was the Giulia Sprint GT of Ben Colburn:

Richard Merrell’s Giulia GT Junior was 3rd:


Two Giulia saloons featured – Frank Slevin’s Super Ti, (#7) and David Churchill’s Super, (11)


There were also two Alfasuds, both Tis, Chris Whelan’s (#36), and Mike Thorne’s (#44):

The Alfetta GTV6 model was represented by David Margalies’s example.  David finished 5th overall.


Alongside in the paddock was Jake Margalies’s ’79 Giulietta 2.0:


Taking 4th, Antony Ross’s 1750 was the only Spider entered.  Seen here heading the GTAm replica of John Symes and the 2000 Berlina of Richard Colburn:
